THX. Shame on me I didn't know the page :(.

As said I am lacking in personal experiances comparing the codecs
itsself, but especially the mjpeg-tools toolchain using:

yuv[denoise|scaler|deinterlace|medianfilter]

are often reported to do a very good job. OTOH they need some
fine tuning, where I prefer to have a rundimental "ok for me"
transcode line.

As dv is already very good quality, these tools are less important
for dv -> dvd, IMHO.

However, I saw some real astonishing results from people tried to
backup there old VHS recordings on DVD. A fine tuned mjpeg-tools
toolchain was able to improve the results a lot.
