Today in Exodu we read about the Laws and ordinances given to Moses. I want to take a bit of time to talk about the 10 commandments. The last 5 are pretty simple and straight forward, thou shalt not kill, steal, commit adultery, bear false witness and covet wat is thy neighbours. Here we are just taught wat we shall not do, period. The first 5 however are very interesting to me. It says honor thy father and mother for it to be well with you. Wow, even if ur father denied you, our mother beat you up or wat ever, if u want it to be well with you, honor them. The first 3 commandments instruct us to have no other God, not to worship or bow down to anything else but to honor our jealous God.
It is commandment number 4 that messes me up and that i want us to discuss. It says we shld remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, we shall rest and not do any form of work. Which day is the sabbath? How do we define work or wat work shall we rest from on the sabbath? Some doctrines say if u break one, you have broken all the commandments and u need to repent, is it just breaking 1 or its about u breaking it conciously and knowingly? Others say we are now living under grace and there is therefore no condemnation. Does that mean the commandments no longer apply? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "tribewithavibe" group.
