Man are we getting screwed. RoadRunner charges as much for their 8mb/.5mb as these guys do for their 10m/2m. From personal experience, I've never come close to 8mb/.5mb (I average about 50% of this).
I had RCN ( http://www.rcn.com ) in Philadelphia. They were pretty good about periodically upgrading speeds for customers. I've only been gone a year and boy have they upgraded. Residential users can now get 20/2 Mbps/sec. When I lived there I was getting 10M/800K and the performance was consistently very good.
Internet options in the Triangle have mostly been pretty poor from what I've been able to find.
That said, I'm house hunting right now. Are there any ISP's in the Triangle offering substantially faster services than TWC?
