But what if that person isn't a coder and doesn't know how to fix it? Using  
free software means sacrificing convenience, quality, features, and usability  
for idealism. More often than not, code is done by one person who is a  
student or a developer with a real job who does it in his free time (like  
Ruben).

Successful free software is under the open source label and the company or  
foundation behind it is making software for profit. Either through services  
or developing "open core" software.
