People have the right to hold unpopular opinions. It is very rude to publicize a private e-mail message. Opinions about gender, reactions to people's opinions and speculation about the motives or character of the people who had the opinions or the reactions are not arguments and distract from relevant information.
I would laugh at this situation but it has worn on and on and people can't seem to resist commenting... Here I am chiming in and I don't know anything except what the general public knows about the allegations and ongoing drama.
