I didn't have time to change the vsound script, but I did
record an hour long radio broadcast using  vsound with the -f file.wav
option.  The resulting .wav file was 620 Megs.
The converted mp3 file was 56 Megs. As long as you have
a spare 700 megs of of space on the current file system you
are probably safe.  

I"ll try vsound with standard output tonight and see how it goes.
