Yes, but what did he have in mind when he said that?  It seems to me that he 
had the local church in mind.  Taking this verse alone, it might be that he 
had one gigantic worldwide church in mind, but considering the rest of 
Scripture in how it speaks about churches, I do not think that a worldwide 
church is a good understanding.

The Bible tells us who the bride is.  It is the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:9).
