hardcoding during refactoring.

You want to describe this one too for the record :-) While I'm here I
might as well try to fix it.

Certainly.

Once upon a time I was able to create a goal in my maven.xml with the name "clean". That goal would, for instance, invoke the reactor to invoke "clean" on a set of subprojects. Now, however, my "clean" goal is ignored and the one from the standard plugin library is invoked.
