I think it's worthwhile to make it easy to use Cheetah as an
alternative... if for no other reason than it would give a lot of
people a good reason to shut up. All of the ranting and raving for
and against Cheetah makes me ill.
Personally I find Cheetah to be a really gnarly choice for an HTML/
XML template language, but it seems like an OK choice for other
content if you really can't get along with just string
interpolation. I just don't find myself in that situation very often.
However, I'm not writing other users' web apps, so I couldn't care
less how funky their templates are. All I'm concerned with is that
Kid (or something of similar design) is what's used in the core for
doing HTML and XML.
