This is exactly why the Ubuntu team created Kubuntu. One of the most common questions they got was why did you choose Gnome over KDE. And it wasn't enough that they had good reasons, and it was clearly be best default for them (they were aiming at computer novices who would be bewildered by many of the configuration options in KDE) it wasn't the best choice for everybody. So now there is a Kubuntu project, and it gets significant funding, and has become a popular choice for KDE people. But, it was also initially designed and supported by developers outside the core, because the core needed to focus on making the gnome based version rock. If Ubuntu came out with two "OK, not great" versions to start, nobody ever asked for a KDE based Ubuntu. I think there is a lesson to be learned here, and I am convinced that if somebody can add really good Cheetah support that's easy to use, to TurboGears, and make it play nice and leave Kid as the default, I think that will make everybody happy. But I'm also convinced that we have other fish to fry, and we shouldn't loose focus on CRUD, and other 1.0 blocking features. Anyway, from the looks of things over at CherryPy, that might be a little bit easier than it was a week ago. ( http://projects.dowski.com/projects/buffet ) --Mark Ramm
