Hi, I know it's been done. I dont claim it's something new. I still think it's cool to do it using TurboGears and if the user experience is rich enough it could be better than the competitors. The technology is a little different - it's not a firefox extension and its not a frame. It has the potential to work on other browsers. So, the question still stands: is it an appropriate SOC project and is someone willing to mentor it?
