This java project is interesting, but SQLAlchemy provides a much
easier interface, and it works more like I would expect a Python Data
Mapper to work.

It's open source, easy to use, scailable, contains most of the
features of the "Large Scale Comercial" ODBMS's you talk about.  I
think we're dooing all right without trying to copy an overly
restrictive API designed for Java programmers.
