Right, the website has been collecting dust since nobody feels responsible. The project status is not communicated well, and the layout needs an overhaul. I think somebody drafted a new layout last year, but unfortunately these efforts stalled just like the efforts to improve the docs. Unless people step up and take over the role of homepage, docs or code manager, things will not change.
