There was a period of about 6 months, October 1997-April 1998, when the rights to most of the Goodson-Todman library expired, and they didn't have "Match Game" on the schedule. Wikipedia claims that GSN called that time the "Dark Period," but as far as I know, that's only a name given to it by online game show fanboys -- it's not like GSN was using that term on the air (and why would they?). > Wikipedia says a "Match Game '73" episode was the first show aired when the > network debuted on December 1, 1994 ... Again, Wikipedia's wrong -- they started with a 24-hour marathon of one episode of every show that they had available in their library at the time, in more or less chronological order. The first show aired was, I believe, "What's My Line?". -- Jim Ellwanger <train...@ellwanger.tv> <http://www.ellwanger.tv> -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
