In the snark I was thinking more along the lines of "Carson Daly still has
a show?'

Any heat a show airing at that hour is going to generate is going to come
from later viewings on YouTube. The network might want to keep a show in
that slot to sell commercial time but it wouldn't surprise me if they
turned it over to the stations for reruns or infomercials. When one of the
Later hosts left NBC put SCTV reruns in the slot and they drew the same
ratings as new Later shows.

As for finding new music, when Letterman announced he was ending his show,
one thing I realized was that was the only place I heard new musicians and
bands. I got out of the habit of watching late night shows daily and radio
playlists have become so short that I'm not going to discover new music
there.
