Lawyers for two large groups of D!sney shareholders, *of course,* want the
company to divulge what they knew and when they knew it... or they'll ask a
court to make them do it:

Mark Jeffries, to moi, Sept 25th:

And unfortunately in DC and some other markets there is no place else for
Kimmel to go on OTA linear (back in the day anything an affiliate turned
down was picked by a UHF indie most of the time). There's no indie station
in DC, the CW station is owned by Nexstar and the Fox and MyTV affils are
owned by Fox and I don't see Rupert or Lachlan approving Kimmel to run on
their stations (for the record, WDCA, like most Fox-owned duopoly second
stations, is now branded "Fox+"--to be exact, "Fox 5+," even though they're
on channel 20--and I know that they do similar in LA, with KCOP branded as
"Fox11+," even though KCOP's on channel 13).

For the record, in DC WJLA runs another half-hour of local news at 11:35,
with Sinclair's "National News Desk" at 12:05 and going back to the network
at 12:37 for "NIghtline." I assume that's how most of the Sinclair ABC
affils are handling this, while some of the Nexstar stations may be doing
entertainment reruns at 11:35. And I assume that WJLA is promoting this (if
at all) as "more of the news you want without bias."
