This looks good to me - thanks for finding the relevant upstream bug report. Unrelated - its weird that the bug watch shows Confirmed but the applet shows New. Anybody know that Launchpad bug?
It could have something to do with how bugzilla (the bugtracker gnome uses) classifies bugs:
New bugs are status UNCONFIRMED in bugzilla, once they get confirmed they are status NEW. The applet seems to show the literal status, while the bugwatch translates it to "our" descriptions.
