I don't have a live CD to try. I tried the Generic PCL4 suggestion, and that
worked. When I changed the ppd back to the Brother version, it still worked.
Then I restarted the machine for an unrelated purpose (other maintenance was
installed). After the restart, it failed again. I'm attaching the error log.
After two pages came out, I canceled the print job and removed all the paper
from the printer so it wouldn't go on forever. The first page had this:
%-123...@pjl
            @PJL ENTER LANGUAGE = HBP
                                     @l...@g
The second page had only the letter 'P' on the far right side of the page near
the top. I tried the gs -dNOPAUSE suggestion and it had similar results. I
only let it print one page, and the output was the same as before except there
was a 'q' after the '@l...@g'.
