problem with the connection is related to this ipv6 bug (i thought the
same)

on my laptop, the ethernet card picked up the connection to the local router,
but browsing didn't work. (but it opened google pages as is realized later)
wifi connection was fine, with browsing and everything
i tried every workaround in this thread, but none of them worked

after a half day of struggle i ended up searching for driver bugs, and ran into
this thread
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2545109

and voilĂ , setting MTU from automatic to 1400 in Network Manager, eth0
settings, did the trick!

i hope it helps at least some of you
