James - just for info: I followed the steps for bug 543963 (uninstall the likewise-open packages, purge them and reinstall the updated ones). This had no visible improvement until I rebooted - at which point, i got a different error. On investigation, package likewise-open5-netlogon was not installed. I installed that and rebooted - problem solved.
