I tried the solution from #6 but it did not work for me: With nvidia-364 installed:
1. I could start LightDM but could not start a Gnome session - few flashes after entering password and it bounced me back to the lightdm login screen. 2. If I selected gdm as my display manager I could not get to the login screen.
