a small update: the tlp settings have no effect and are thus not
necessary... Even with the settings the trackpoint is sometimes not
working after resume. However, an additional suspend/resume does
activate the trackpoint again!

So removing the blacklist of i2c_i801 (which is a critical bug: #1786574
), upgrading libinput and probably updating the kernel to 4.18.x were
the important steps for me.
