@norritt: It doesn't work like that. The world does not revolve around
virtualbox, and the HWE kernels are released on a schedule. Users who
can't handle the breakage should stick with the GA kernel (6.8.x in this
case) or, for virtualbox, use their upstream repo/releases.


I do agree that Ubuntu could do more preventative maintenance with their -dkms 
packages in general, but it is not always easy, especially for something like 
virtualbox.
