@Peter Velkovski: Nope, sorry. I'm not using any propreitary drivers. I'm using the opensource Radeon drivers. Also, I find it highly unlikely that any video drivers are the culprit, since they are loaded as modules later in the booting process. Most of us can't even get past the initial CPU check.
