What exactly do you plan to achieve in the 100ms that you'll shave off? Peering between ISPs in India still leaves a lot to be desired. So if you get a server co-located/hosted at a particular ISPs data center. You'll have low latency only if you are customer of that ISP. Customers of other ISPs may have to make a round the world trip to get to the server. Latency isn't that big an issue considering we get ping times of ~250ms to europe and ~300ms to the US these days. FWIW ubuntu-in.info has a lower latency than google.com --- ubuntu-in.info ping statistics --- 20 packets transmitted, 20 received, 0% packet loss, time 277ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 220.697/222.979/232.011/2.754 ms, pipe 16, ipg/ewma 14.581/223.933 ms --- google.com ping statistics --- 20 packets transmitted, 20 received, 0% packet loss, time 293ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 346.737/348.775/352.078/1.602 ms, pipe 20, ipg/ewma 15.461/348.747 ms Kingsly -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kingsly At Users Dot SourceForge Dot Net -- http://kingsly.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
