What about writing letters to local papers such as "I would like to raise the profile of <event name>, a local event where people can come and discuss the possibilities of computing and learn how to help others by using open source software." or somesuch.
Did wonder if anyone was going to run an Oggcamp campaign similarly in the Farnham/Basingstokes local rag (no idea which one that is though!) -Matt Daubney
