Hi Steffen, I would like to do that, but I'm not completely sure how. I tried the steps outlined here ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI?highlight=%28ATI%29 ) Unfortunately this means that I get NO picture at all... I then have to boot into recovery mode and reverse all the changes. I did purge the old packages before though. I also tried to replace the xorg.conf with the one created during install (as you say: 'so that all the xorg stuff is right'). This also had no effect : blank screen! You are a bit vague when you mention: "So you should have installed version 11.9 before by additional drivers function. Just uninstall the old fglrx and double click on the new one for installing. Do the same with the control center."
