It's been 9 hours now of constant use and no crashes. Took these steps to update the NVIDIA display drivers:
Applications > System Tools > System Settings > Hardware > Additional Drivers. When the driver search ends, it will show a list of drivers, which should include NVIDIA if your computer is so equipped. Default setting after the 12.04LTS upgrade was: NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 173) I selected the next option: NVIDIA accelerated graphocs driver (post-release updates) (version 173-updates). Activated, closed and rebooted. Hopefully this has indeed solved the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
