@AG: it is not only about Chromium / Chrome. Changing to Firefox does not solve the problem here, as stated in #606.
The Chromium bug 145600 you link to tells the current window is unresponsive, but that you can still minimize / restore. This bug is about COMPLETE system lock-ups: no keyboard, no mouse, no tty, no ssh.
