Ok - this blacklist file isn't present in the current version of the
nouveau package, or in the versions that shipped in
intrepid/jaunty/karmic.  Did you install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau from
a PPA or anything, previously?  The current package changelog doesn't
mention anything about this blacklist file.

Anyway, this is either a bug in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (low because
it at *most* affects users who were tracking the lucid alphas), or not a
bug in the Ubuntu package.  You should be able to get things back to
normal by manually removing that file and re-running update-initramfs
-u.
