I am attempting to get net-snmp working with v3 authentication.

I have successfully gotten the ssl library to compile and it works fine with
BOA.
Also I have been able to get openssl to compile and do in fact have a working
openssl binary that I can use.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that I have to enable the net-snmp "with
openssl" option
in order to use both the auth and priv options of net-snmp v3. When I try to
compile now I get this error from net-snmp:

"checking for authentication support... configure: error: Asked to use OpenSSL
but I couldn't find it."

Does anyone know how to go about fixing this? Do I really have to install
openssl (which is about a meg) to do authentication with snmp v3
or can I somehow just use the libssl files?

my platform is as follows:
mcf5275
net-snmp version 5.2.1
libssl and openssl 0.9.7.c

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
