Ulisses -- thanks for the quick reply.

USB-to-RS232 adapters are cheap and easy to come by, and well worth

money when it comes to debugging your environment and code on
evaluation
boards.
How would this work on the MacOS X side ? A terminal emulator is
needed, right ?
Since uClinux uses the GNU toolchain, which can be hosted under OSX, I
assume you should have no problems with that (assuming, though, you
have
all necessary support libraries on your system -- this usually
requires
having XCode installed).
It should be OK then.
As for a platform -- I'd say you're probably better off with ARM-based
boards, there are tons of options in the market (meaning there are
many
cheap boards available, as well as full-featured ones such as the
Beagleboard).
Any brand you would recommend ? I was thinking more of Coldfire based
boards.
I've been working with a Blackfin BF527 EZKIT, which is a nice (if
costly) kit, though some of the on-board devices still lack Linux
drivers (such as a keypad and touchscreen display). It's probably
not an
easy option for a first board, though.
A question I forgot to ask: which boards are best supported in terms
of Linux drivers ?

Hello all,
I'd like to try uClinux for hobby purposes. I have two questions:
1. Are there any evaluation boards that can be used with a Macintosh
(no serial port) ?
2. Does the toolchain compile and run fine on MacOS X ? Alternatively
I could install Linux but still no serial port.
Thanks in advance.
