I have to go to Washington next week for a Compendium workshop, so I
will come back to all this when I get back. Maybe uDig 1.1 will be out
by then.
Thanks for all your help so far.

project map?
Oh poo. I'm wrong about releasing today. I remembered that some
playing with the release process is going to have to take place for it
to work. What I'd suggest is get a uDig development environment going
and develope you plugins in that. Instructions to do this is at:
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/Quickstart
These are instructions on how to develop against the 1.1 code base so
you will be playing with the latest APIs. Most of you drag and drop
woes should be answered if not give me reports on how to fix them and I
will. The more testers before the official release the better.

I've just added the functionality to uDig 1.1. I'm making a MileStone
release right now that you can develope against. I'll do the official
milestone release soon but will have something for you to play with
today.

Sorry,
My email was not very clear.
What I want to do is open a uDig project and then a specific uDig map
(with all its associated layers setup set).
For example, I tried calling uDig with the path to a .umap file, and
hoped it would open the correct project and uDig map for me, but I
just got the dialog to pick a data source.
Is this possible. Or is it possible for me to make it happen with a
plugin?

If a parameter is a url or a path to a shapefile a map will be opened
containing that map. Also if you are on windows and you drag and
drop a
url or a shapefile on the icon it should startup and open a map
displaying that resource.

Does the uDig.exe take any arguments?
I need to be able to launch uDig and have it open a specific map in
a project automatically from another Java app.
Can I do that now.
If not, would I be able to write a plugin to do that easily, or
would I have to modify your base code?
