I am looking at getting a new computer; and was/am considering a mac. As such I have started looking into Java 6 support; and I noticed that it was actually released for macs - but not really. It seems that Java6 is 64 bit only; and does not work with the first generation of Intel machines; etc..
There are a couple Java 6 ports for mac (making use of X11 for swing etc...). I wonder since we are using SWT if we could get away with one of these Java 6 ports (and just include it as our "jre" in the udig release?). I have no idea of the quality of these ports but ... - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/javaformacosx105update1.html - http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/ - http://java.dzone.com/news/java-6-mac-worsest-release-eve It looks like this stuff is under some kind of research license; seems odd.
