I briefly tried soylatte but was somewhat underwhelmed, meaning I couldnt
run eclipse with it.  Maybe it is better now.  I dont know.  Just for the
record I had java on OSX.  I hope they start just doing a direct OpenJDK
port soon and get rid of most of their fancy hacks it makes uDig Dev a real
pain.  And OSX is always way behind the actual SDK.

However I should say it has been at least a year since trying Soylatte and I
only tried for about 1-2 hour.  SO it is possible that it is usable and I
just didnt give it a fair shake.

With regards to JAI I havent had a big issue on OSX with the lack of native
support.  Perhaps looking at raw performance it isnt great but from a
Desktop app POV it has been just fine for me.
