Hi Emily, > Thanks for the info. I've created a Raster Styling page here for review. > > http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/Raster+Styling
your proposal looks very nice. Some comments: One thing I know about styling rasters is that you never do it manually (at least not more than once). So it gets very important to have a set of default colortables (as we have now in the simple raster style editor) and the possibility to maybe load a colortable. The latest best thing I have seen collecting colortables, is this site: http://soliton.vm.bytemark.co.uk/pub/cpt-city/ Consider that there are (at least) 2 kind of tables: The ones in which the values are defined, as for example the corinne landcore colortable: 111 230 000 077 111 230 000 077 112 255 000 000 112 255 000 000 121 204 077 242 121 204 077 242 122 204 000 000 122 204 000 000 123 230 204 204 123 230 204 204 124 230 204 230 124 230 204 230 131 166 000 204 131 166 000 204 132 166 077 000 132 166 077 000 133 255 077 255 133 255 077 255 .... as of plugins\eu.udig.style.advanced\colortables\corine_landcover.clr but when you have for example an elevation raster, you do not care about the value, you want it evenly spaced on a certain colortable as RGB values: 0 191 191 0 255 0 255 255 0 255 127 0 191 127 63 20 21 20 as of plugins\eu.udig.style.advanced\colortables\elevation.clr One more thing. You might want to consider also multiple novalues as I did in the editor. I can give you one reason. A map might have its own novalue, ex. -9999. When you then reproject that map, uDig shows the collar around the map, usually in black or whatever. That value is usually 0.0. So if you want to get rid of both novalue and the collar for a nice representation, you need to apply two novalue transparency rules. Hope that helps a bit. You got my vote on the proposal and obviously sicne I am working constantly with raster, I can test whenever you like. Thanks, Andrea PS: please add a button that saves the sld automatically to the file with the same name of the raster file. The export button is not all that comfort. I did it for feature styles and use it a lot. And I regret I never did it for the raster editor. :) > > > > On 10/11/2012 10:41 PM, Jody Garnett wrote: >>> >>> I have some re-design ideas for the style editor I am working on and >>> hope to share in the next day or two. >>> >>> Do you know if there some uDig wiki page where I should post my >>> thoughts/ideas? >>> >>> >> >> For "wish" requests we have: >> - http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/Ideas >> >> For actual UI proposals we have: >> - http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/RFC >> >> I usually put down something here, and then ask for customer & community >> review. >> >> There is a template in confluence you can use, and the RFC instructions >> (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/ADMIN/How+to+take+part#Howtotakepart-RequestforChange) >> include an example. >> >> I recommend "wireframe sketcher" (if you are just getting started), or >> using "window builder" to >> quickly prototype a UI (works great to preview MigLayout). >> >> Cheers, >> Jody >> >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> User-friendly Desktop Internet GIS (uDig) >> http://udig.refractions.net >> http://lists.refractions.net/mailman/listinfo/udig-devel >> > _______________________________________________ > User-friendly Desktop Internet GIS (uDig) > http://udig.refractions.net > http://lists.refractions.net/mailman/listinfo/udig-devel _______________________________________________ User-friendly Desktop Internet GIS (uDig) http://udig.refractions.net http://lists.refractions.net/mailman/listinfo/udig-devel
