If you have an RJ-45 to DB9 adapter, and it's not working (it won't  
with cisco cables), just cut the RJ45 side and invert it  (12345678  
becomes 87654321).

It's not like ethernet crossover, you can simply crimp the plug the  
other way around.

If you don't want to cut your cable, you can make a 10cm cable to  
invert the pins (an RJ 45 null modem).

And on the t1000, as you said, to reset the RSC you need a serial  
connection.

If you still can't make a working cable, I can send you one, I have  
plenty.
