All other details by side - not that Gerald doesn't make any good points -
to be just, and fair, I don't remember any vote on this. It just happened.
And yes, Switzerland is a democracy, the optimal form of democracy - a direct
one.
When a post comes in French, I try to make sense of it, if I can't - that's OK
too.
If it's in French, then it most likely wasn't meant for the German speaking
part,
and so I just ignore it - and so far, I'm still alive, and nothing has happened
to me!
(:-)
My points:
- don't remember any formal vote on this
- so far, ignoring messages in French has worked just fine
What's the problem with simply ignoring messages in German?
Besides, just to set the record straight on this one:
I know why Gerald posted the job ad in German. One'd be working in Bern, and in
Bern, fluent German is essential, and so the potential candidates need to be
able
to handle it.
If one can't even read and understand the job ad, they're extremely to get the
job,
because integration is very important, and the language is viewed as one of the
crucial steps towards that.

So true.
It doesn't fit marketing purposes, or the "perfect vision" of some people and
organizations, but hey, life is tough and it's the truth. The emperor is naked.
Nenn das Kind beim Namen.
