The Intel 386 was released in 1985. Isn't it time we wrote an OS for it?
Even MS-DOS 2.0 had a tiny kernel and a configuration file that
specified extra modules to load at boot time.

How about putting as much code as possible from demand paged images that
run in user mode?
Whoops! Isn't that Minix or Solaris?
