Right now in UPC, i see an organization which is bedeviled by her past evils and is reluctant to face up to them. I see an organization living in denial, while the peoples she seeks to lead are still holding UPC accountable for her past evils.
The UPC IS AN UNDEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME JUST, LISTEN TO MATEK RUMBLE. THE MAN IS READY TO DENY RECENT HISTORY JUST SO THAT UPC GETS POWER AGAIN. TO HIM THE UPC IS SQUEAKY CLEAN, ALL THE CRIMES COMMITED UNDER OBOTE AND UPC NEVER HAPPENED. HE IS NOT READY TO ACCEPT ANY WRONG DOING ON THE PART OF UPC. THE FAULT IS ON EVERYBODY ELSE BUT UPC. IF MUSEVENI HADN'T BEEN THERE THEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DP'S FAULT IF NOT DP, THEN, CP....SOMEONE ELSE BUT UPC...AND THAT IS HOW THE ORGANIZATION IS RUN. NO WONDER THERE ARE NOW SPLITS FROM UPC, THE RANK AND FILE IN THE PARTY ARE BEGINING TO CATCH ON....SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE WAY THE PARTY IS RUN, THERE IS NO ROOM FOR DESSENTING VIEWS, IT'S EITHER YOU ARE FOR OBOTE OR OUT OF THE PARTY.
WHY SHOULD ONE MAN OBOTE HOLD A PARTY TO RANSOME? I CAN'T ACCEPT ANY "DEMOCRATIC" MESSAGE FROM AN INSTUTION OR PARTY HEADED BY A FORMER DICTATOR AND CRIMINAL, I'M SORRY IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, IT IS A SNUB TO MY INTELLIGENCE AND THE MOST UNPATRIOTIC ACT I COULD EVER DO.
NETTERS DEMOCRACY IS ALSO ABOUT PEOPLES RECORDS....WHAT RECORD DOES OBOTE HAVE W.R.T CHARACTER AND PAST LEADERSHIP OF OUR COUNTRY? WHAT WAS HIS RECORD WHILE IN OFFICE (TWICE)? WAS HE A UNITER OR A DIVIDER? DID UGANDA PROSPER? LUCKLY FOR US WE CAN ALL JUDGE OBOTE'S RECORD AND IN EXTENSION UPC'S RECORD. IF WE AS INDIVIDUALS SEE BLACK AND DECIDE TO CALL IT WHITE WE WILL BE DOING SO TO OUR PERILL, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THE UPC AND MATEK WANT US TO DO...IF YOU SEE BLACK THEY TRY TO CONVINCE YOU THAT YOU ARE SEEING WHITE.
I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO OFFENDED IF MATEK AND HIS ILK WERE LIVING IN SOME THIRD WORLD COUNTRY WITH NO HISTORY OF DEMOCRATIC RULE, BUT THESE GUYS RESIDE IN COUNTRIES THAT ARE THE BASTIONS AND/OR CRADDLES OF DEMOCRACY. IF WITH ALL THAT EXPOSURE THEY CAN STILL THINK THEY WAY THEY DO THEN IMAGINE IF THEY EVER GOT THE REIGNS OF POWER IN FRAGILE COUNTRIES LIKE UGANDA.
NETTERS, I URGE YOU TO READ CAREFULLY WHAT MATEK AND HIS ILK PUT OUT, COMPARE WHAT THEY SAY TO THE FACTS ON THE GROUND IN UGANDA, THAT IS WHAT I DO, I NEVER TAKE PEOPLE'S WORDS AS GOSPEL TRUTH, I LISTEN, READ, WATCH AND INVESTIGATE (CROSS CHECK WITH THE REAL SITUATION ON THE GROUND).

The writer should realise that this matter is between Buganda and UPC. Its not Acholi Vs Buganda. UPC was ruling and its armed wing\ army was UNLA whose majority happened to be Acholi. It was the policy of UPC to carry out the massacre described in the article, not Acholi's policy. It was the policy of the UPC piliticians their armed wing, not the ordinary Acholis. As I've always said, the dialog should be between Baganda leaders and UPC.
