'Govt to Declare PRA Terrorists'

The government will declare the People's Redemption Army (PRA) a terrorist organisation, a Kampala-based lawyer, Mr Erias Lukwago, has said.
Lukwago of Lukwago, Alaka & Co. Advocates, said this on Tuesday at a weekly press briefing at Katumwa Sports Centre.
"We received this intelligence report from impeccable sources last week. The declaration is supposed to be made by the Minister of Internal Affairs, because he has powers to do so. The act is aimed at blocking some FDC members from being blacklisted as like Col. Kiiza Besigye," Lukwago said.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Ruhakana Rugunda, said he had no information concerning the declaration of PRA as a rebel orgnisation.
"Lukwago should share this intelligence information with me," Rugunda said.

The government has so far declared three rebel organisations terrorists. They include Joseph Kony's Lord Resistance Army, Allied Democratic Front and Al-Qaida.
"Once the government declares PRA a terrorist organisation, anybody considered to be its member will not be given a platform on any media according to the Anti Terrorism Act," Lukwago said.
