Just a slight caution: Chances are you won't get everything working
properly on the LiveCD - particularly wireless internet and sound. Don't
let that discourage you from whatever distro you're trying. Those minor
problems are usually sorted out without too much hassle once you install.

Subject: [UM-LINUX] Linux on a laptop

Hello,

Thanks for all the input and advice on which version of Linux to use on a
laptop. The live cd idea sounds like the great advice before an
actual install. I do like learning more about Linux, but since this is a
project with which I need a dependable working OS I'll try Ubuntu,
PCLinuxOS 2007, or Knoppix. If anyone has more to add please feel free.

Thanks again,

Russ Main
