Absolutely.  And it would be legitimate to use MathText to convert the
"x" from U+0078 to U+1D465.  What's not legal is using it to dress up
ordinary text, 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠, which I know is not what you had in
mind.
