i have to disagree. I was a bit skeptical about the Fresh
Grocer idea before it opened, but I have to say, I use it all
the time now. The only advantage Thriftway has for me is that
it's 3 blocks closer to my house, so I only go there when I've
run out of something and I'm in a hurry. But both stores are on
my way home from work, so I almost always use FG.  

Fresh Grocer is open 24 hours, which has come in handy more
than once. They carry things Thriftway wouldn't carry in a
million years. They have better quality meat and produce, and a
bigger variety of the things I tend to buy. The staff is FAR
more efficient and knowledgeable and willing to help you.  The
people working at the registers don't ignore you and chat with
one another while you stand there impatiently watching your ice
cream melt.  Thriftway seems to have no concept of "speed" (not
long ago I was there and the woman working the EXPRESS lane had
one arm in a sling.)

I don't really think there's any comparison.
