Well, still no progress from the city service assigned to the task. I
know how hard it can be to motivate to work on Friday's. Maybe they'll
get to it today.
I am thankful for all of the ideas that every one has suggested:
- I contacted the water department;
- I placed a PGW warning sign over the hole beside an orange cone;
- I alerted a UCD walker about it Friday night;
- I informed the neighbor who is trying to sell his house at 835 s. 49th
street of the danger to his children
I would love to make this into a larger issue - addressing the city
issues, the politics of UCD, neglect and disregard for the safety of
children, etc etc.
I'll leave that to the debaters, and just say I did what I could.
When it gets fixed, I'll let you know.

I am sorry to say they never came, and the sewer is still open.

Thanks to all for the quick responses. I called the water department
and they said they would send someone out asap.

I'd appreciate any advice regarding who to contact to have a sewer
hole covered as soon as possible.
