I actually tried a mCubed 'fanAMP'
(http://www.overclockers.com/articles1252/), but the fan would not spin
slower than the BIOS had it set (1500RPM). The FanAMP is a neat bit of
kit with a thermal probe and pots to trim the fan voltage.

Most of the noise was from the 3.5in drive anyway.
