Just wrapping this thread up ... I installed LMS 7.7.2 on a Smartq V5 tablet running Ubuntu 9.04 (I think). The music scan was slow but accurate. Playback of tracks is perfectly acceptable.
I don't use many plugins, etc. except for BBC iPlayer which seems to work very well. Overall, the install was painless - the issues I encountered were more related to the Smartq version of Ubuntu itself.
