Well, thanks for the help & advice. After several hours of reconfiguring the linux on this tablet, I finally got LMS installed and working (sort of ...). It's currently rescanning the media library, as the initial scan only listed 6 tracks (??!!!). Hope the rescan does better. Sadly, the setup is incredibly s - l - o - w . However, it's really just a proof of concept project - and an absolutely 'last-gasp' standby machine, if my other devices go kaput!
