I applied that this evening, and all of the files that had been playing back with errors are now played back perfectly. I believe "slackhead' correctly identified the cause of the issue, and has resolved it with this easy addition to cmdline.txt. For me, the pops and crackles were rarely heard with CD-quality FLAC files, and as the samplerate and bit-length increased the problem became more and more obvious.
