It was the Ubuntu/Debian file which installed using a package manager I've forgotten the name of, deafault with XFCE. (not Synaptic or Ubuntu Software Center) I since found other instructions from elsewhere (no idea where, I've looked at so many websites that I'm going dizzy!) which said to install using the terminal. I did this but it said it was already installed. Pretty much given up now, I don't think it's likely there will be a newer version released as the Squeezebox is now unsupported by Logitech.
